Day 3 & 4
Day 3 was hard because I’m at work at 8 so I can’t have my normal omelette for breakfast (I wake up about 30 minutes before this shift.)
I brought some leftovers but I wasn’t in the mood for them. I went to Whole Foods and bought egg salad and bean salad for breakfast/lunch (BRUNCH) and snacked on a few mixed nuts.
When I got home I had a little snack. For dinner I made a vegetable chili that turned out pretty well if you ask me.
Day 4
Spinach and feta omelette w/ coffee and vegetable juice
Lunch = leftover salmon patties w/ spinach
Dinner = leftover chili
Snacks = celery w/ hummus. Yum. Also 1 0fat Fudgesicle
Coworker brought in a ton of ice cream, JP Licks no less, and I abstained as hard as that was.
Day 2
Breakfast - Omelette w/ feta & spinach + coffee/vegetable juice. This is a normal breakfast for me, diet or not. So that’s nice.
Friday is one of the few days I work during the day so this would be a challenge for lunch.
Lunch - Tuna salad, salad w/ homemade balsamic vinagrette (from S. Beach Diet book), Hearts of Palm “potato salad”
Dinner was even MORE of a challenge as it was a friend’s bday and celebrating the good news of their impending child. We went to the Yardhouse which has 100+ varieties of beer. Damn. This was hard.
Didn’t drink at all.
Dinner - Shared lettuce wraps w/ chicken. I had the Chicken & Avocado sandwich (minus the bread) + green beans instead of fries.
Diet Blog Day 1
We have decided to get back in fighting shape over the winter and I figure tracking our meals might be a nice way to help keep it up. Actually that was Katelyn’s idea. As always, she is way smarter than me.
We are doing South Beach. Basic rundown of that: Lots of meat & veggies (no carrots!) and NO fruit for the first 2 weeks. Obviously no carbs either. I guess you can eat as much as you want though, which is nice as my appetite is usually large.
I am a late sleeper because I work nights so my eating schedule is typically weird. I’ll still call the meals Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner as to not confuse my loyal reader.
Breakfast
Coffee w/ milk + 2 glasses of Vegetable Juice (generic stuff was way cheaper as V8 and the same thing, fwiw)
“Lunch”
3 egg omelette w/ green peppers, mushrooms and onions. Little bit of cheddar cheese. Glass of veggie juice. I bought some frozen sliced veggies for omelettes and such just to make life easier. We have full veggies as well for full meals.
Dinner
Planning on baking some salmon patties I had bought at Trader Joes a while back. Goin to cover them with crushed pine nuts.
Also planning on making a “Potato Salad” with Hearts of Palm a recipe in the South Beach Diet Supercharged book.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
My parents named their children after the lamest IKEA products
As my parents prepared for my two brothers and I to be born they debated potential names. They considered male and female names (not finding out the sex in advance), names of relatives and Hebrew names. One thing I’m sure they didn’t consult was the product listing of a Swedish lifestyle store that would not come to America until I was three years old.
Yes, my brothers and I all share names with IKEA products. And they are all very lame.
Dave’s namesake product is probably the best, but only in comparison to Rob and I.

He is lucky enough to be a totally sweet laptop table, retailing for $17.99, a fortune compared to Rob & I. In fact there’s an $80 version of the “Dave” that almost looks like it could be usable, but perhaps only in the home of Todd and Margot from Christmas Vacation.
Rob doesn’t even get his own standalone product, but hey, he is the youngest sibling.

A bracket. Ouch. Retailing at $7.50 the “Ekby Robert” is the cheapest brother/IKEA product.
I feel that I kind of get screwed the most, mainly because I’ve seen this actual product and it’s terrible.

Meet the “Jeff”, the chintziest plastic folding chair known to mankind. K of C’s and church basements deserve better than this. It’s an embarrassment to Jeffs everywhere.
I don’t expect another brother anytime soon, but if I were to have another sibling, that kid’s name better be something like Malm or Kivik.
10,000 Rancournaments, One Unique Giveaway
BOSTON — Tonight, the Boston Bruins will be giving away special holiday Rene “Rancournaments” prior to the B’s vs. Ducks game at TD Garden.
What exactly is a Rene Rancournament?
It’s a holiday ornament modeled after B’s anthem singer and Garden legend Rene Rancourt and the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive one as they walk through the turnstiles tonight .
This morning, BostonBruins.com contacted Mr. Rancourt to get the inside scoop on the “Rancournament” and the holiday ornament that bears his likeness.
Rancourt said he knew about the unique giveaway item for some time.
“A few weeks ago because we had a plan on a photo shoot for the cover of the thing and then go up at the Garden and record the little tidbits of singing that I do on there, so I knew way ahead of time, and I’ve been on pins and needles since then wondering what it was going to look like,” he said, before he added that the likeness was “very good.”
